Dr. Cohen has been in Retina practice since 1994.He graduated with honors from Harvard College in Mathematics and completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School in the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology Program.

He did an internship at Brown University and an Ophthalmology residency at University of California, Davis. He then completed two years of Retina fellowship training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami.

Dr. Cohen has clinics in our Clearwater and St. Petersburg offices. He performs surgery at Northside Hospital and All Children's Hospitals as well as Bardmoor Surgery Center and Safety Harbor Surgery Center. He has a special interest in medical retina (macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy), pediatric retina and uveitis.


Dr. Cohen is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. He was chosen by the ophthalmology residents for the David D. Donaldson, MD Clinical Faculty Teaching Award in 2011 and 2018. He was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2013 through 2023. He facilitates a monthly retina conference for the residents in the 0phthalmology program.

Dr. Cohen holds multiple patents for a drug delivery device for sustained release drug to the posterior pole of the eye.

Dr. Cohen has over 60 published papers and abstracts in peer reviewed journals. He has spoken at national and international Retina meetings. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
