Your Wesley Chapel Retina team

Care is delivered by experienced vitreoretinal surgeons in RVAF’s network. This includes physicians highlighted at RVAF’s offices and in their profiles. They can provide access to surgical and medical retina expertise. It also enables continuity between proximal offices when required.

Conditions We Treat

Comprehensive evaluation and treatment can be provided for diabetic macular edema, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, macular hole, epiretinal membrane, vitreous floaters, and retinal tears and detachment through RVAF’s testing and patient education capabilities.

Advanced Imaging and Diagnostics

Each visit includes a comprehensive eye exam (fundoscopy) and advanced imaging to scan the macula, optic nerve, vitreous, and outer retina. This process is essential to eye health, identifying problems early and outlining treatment for serious diseases.

Treatments and Procedures

Treatment is tailored to each patient and is evidence-based. It comprises intravitreal anti-VEGF injections for diabetic retinal disease and wet age-related macular degeneration. Office-based laser photocoagulation can be employed in retinal tears and some macular or vascular disorders. Surgery is offered for retinal detachment, macular hole, macular pucker, and for diseases such as vitreous hemorrhage in RVAF’s network of surgeons.

Retinal Detachment: Response to Warning Signs

Retinal detachment is an emergency. The best chance of preserving vision is to have it examined and treated early, before the macula detaches. Look out for these warning signs: a curtain or shadow, sudden appearance over your vision, new onset or worsening flashing lights, and a sudden onset of floaters. If you experience these, seek urgent retina care immediately.

What Will You Experience During Your Appointment?

Anticipate pupil dilation, imaging tests, and explicit explanation of results and follow-up; same-day treatment, such as injection or laser, can be given, as per proper discretion, to stabilize vision and avoid further progression.

Patients are instructed regarding home observation, follow-up appointment timing, and how to call urgently in case of the development of changes such as flashes, floaters, or curtain over vision.

Integrated, Patient-Centered Care

Wesley Chapel staff closely collaborates with referring primary care physicians, optometrists, and ophthalmologists, particularly in the case of diabetic eye disease, to offer a smooth evaluation, manage treatment regimens, and offer consistent communication throughout the RVAF network.

Aiding Wesley Chapel and Pasco County

The Wesley Chapel office is conveniently accessible for residents of Wesley Chapel and northern Tampa Bay. It has physicians to assist with urgent eye issues promptly and ensure that patients can be referred to RVAF’s nearby facilities when they require additional assistance.

Plan Your Visit

Bring with you a list of medications you currently take and any prior eye history you have. Light sensitivity will be experienced after your eyes are dilated; sunglasses and a driver can help minimize this afterward, following the visit.
