Dr. Cohen graduated with honors from Harvard College in Mathematics and completed his medical training at Harvard Medical School. He completed two years of Retina fellowship training at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami. He is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida and a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology

Dr. Cohen is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida School of Medicine. He oversees a three hour retina imaging conference for the USF department of Ophthalmology monthly. He was chosen by the ophthalmology residents for the David D. Donaldson, MD Clinical Faculty Teaching Award in 2011, 2018, and 2023. He was elected by his peers for inclusion in Best Doctors in America from 2013 through 2025. He facilitates a monthly retina conference for the residents in the 0phthalmology program.
